Alma turned into a Class 1 Hurricane last night, and passed into the SoCal Swell window. Of course a cluster of 4 islands won't make us as happy as the rest of the coast (unless you have a boat), but the 170 degree angle could pass through some cracks.

Wetsand is saying that Tropical Storm Alma may be throwing some SW our way. This may require southerly trips towards the end of the week.
i speant some amount of time between Rincon and C-Street on Sat and Sun and there wasn't much out there, but i was able to get wet. a check at 18:00 on sunday at C-street showed 6 people out with 1-2 occaisional waves. yesterday evening i had my first trunk session of the summer, out in 12"-14" waves of fury at Mesa Lane. Besides the little harmless "By the Wind Sailor" jellyfish that have been invading our shores for the last 2 months, i've seen a few full size jellyfish in the water and on the beach recently.

So Toby let me know that Chris at SBSurf is a good guy to get lessons from. I'll try to put that in the links section when i get a chance. Apparently Santa Barbara is the #3 tourist location in California during Memorial Day Weekend, so you best keep it on the down low these next few days so you don't get run over by any of those brightly colored electric tourist vehicles they have downtown. The bouys show very little in the way of waves, and what there is seems from the South. There is a skateboarding movie coming out tonight that could catch your interest.
