A new report from last week, after missing out on two days of funs waves. This weekend the swell was so non-existant, the fog so dense, and the water so murky and choppy that one could hardly imagine crisp winter mornings surfing in head high waves groomed by offshores.

From Surfrider:
"Unfortunately, the County Board of Supervisors has just unanimously approved the parking program. There were some modifications made which are unknown to the Surfrider volunteers at this time. The first reading of the modified parking ordinance is tentatively scheduled for July 6th. Look to the local newspaper for details in the coming days. We will send out another email when we get the complete facts."

After 6 months of not writing reports, I'm back online with a new surf report format. Check it out here. Although not as nicely organized as the Maddux way of doing things, I'm hoping the ease of use of the new system will allow me to writeup reports quickly, thus making me more likely to stay on top of things. Sublte improvements should be in the works.

Scotty Bull from Surfrider reports in about IV Parking: "At the Board hearing today, it was made clear that the plan needed improvements and more clarification. Gail Marshall requested the University to help out more, and suggested a phased approach to the plan where meters would be installed downtown. She felt enforcement could be ramped up in other parts of IV as well to alleviate cars that are stored in IV streets and illegal parking. She also wanted a more robust staff report on alternative transportation and options for keeping ticket revenue in IV. This was a good start but staff pointed out problems with just installing meters. Therefore the Board passed a continuance to make a final decision on June 15 after more information could be presented. If you are ready to have this plan move forward as proposed then I suggest you do nothing. If you want to make changes, then please get involved. This may be your last opportunity." Sounds like the County is once again making a major decision about I.V. after school is out.
