New surf reports from this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Surfer Mag has a new clip up from "State of S" which features some local footage as well as interviews with Greenough. Looks like the film will be shown at the SB Maritime Museum on Friday, September 24th at 7:00 with live peformances by the soundtrack artists.
Pope turned on some anti-spam functionality in his email client a month or so ago which may be the reason he hasn't been getting his email. That's been turned off now, so if you've written an email lately that received no response, go ahead and re-send it.

It's late August and the North Pacific just lazily opened up one eye and brewed a tiny storm sending the first NW swell, albeit tiny in size, that headed to California. Pope headed out to see if it would show in Santa Barbara, and came back with mixed results in this, the first surf report of August.

Not sure if this is real or not, but check out the wavepillow. If you think the lineup is already crowded from online forecasts and cameras, wait until every surfer within 30 miles of the ocean is being woken up by their pillows when the surf is pumping.

Pope is on vacation until August 22nd so no updates until then.
The SB independent annual readers poll ballots are out and due August 20th. Some surf related categories are Best Surf Spot and Best Surf Shop. I'm not sure how many years in a row Rincon has won but it would be nice if there was a coup and surfers whimsically entered "In's and Out's".
A reader sends in this article about El Nino this winter, bring on the El Nino hype. The NOAA article, which is difficult to interpret the severity out of.
