Four days, four spots, four lazy reports. Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The National Weather Service issued an abnormally long 3 day High Surf Advisory starting Thursday and continuing thru the weekend.

New report from Tuesday. SurferMag has a video up that is a testament to the fact that no matter how on top of the waves you think are sitting in front of your computer, you just gotta go out to see for yourself. This was around these parts on a day where the Harvest Buoy went from 1ft to 7ft in about 6 hours and then was gone.
In other news the Ellwood swap got approved by the Coastal Commission which means it's offically "saved." Also from the Voice is an article on the work going on at Goleta Beach.

After 3 weeks of inactivity a surf report from Sunday along the Central Coast is filed. 16 days of rain and this weekend's warm temps were a welcome respite, despite the small surf conditions. Looks like the North Pacific is back to it's usual self though.

Sumatran Surfariis along with the Malloy brothers are hosting a
benefit in Ventura tonight at 7:00 to raise money for thier Indonesian aid efforts. The details:
"I wanted to let everyone know about a benefit that Sumatran Surfariis is putting on with the Malloy Brothers (and theirsponsors: Etnies, Channel Islands Surfboards, Patagonia, Nixon, Reef - to name a few) to aid the Indonesian tsunami victims. The event is taking place in Ventura, CA on the corner of Main Street and Olive Street, across from "The Drink". Please see the attached flyer that Adam Kobayashi (AK)created for more information. AK has been part of the Sumatran Surfariis family for some time, and he's worked tirelessly to make this even happen. The event will be January 5th from 7-11pm, and they will be showing slideshow and video images of past trips to this beautiful area. There will also be beer and giveaways, so it should be a really great time."

$2 Million in tax dollars to restore sand to Goleta Beach
was re-appropriated by mother nature into offshore sand bars and submarine canyons during this week of storms. No doubt the pro seawall camp will use this an example of why we need a seawall and the pro managed retreat camp will use this to justify their desire for a more natural solution. Surfers would like to suggest if the County were to spend $2 Million to create sandbars, perhaps they could place it at beach that is more westerly facing.

Happy 2005.
A few good folks email ways to help with Tsunami Relief. Gitte points to Surf Aid International which is focusing on helping the people of Nais and donations can be given here. Andrew points to Goleta based Direct Relief International and you can donate here . Also is the American Red Cross.
Rain and more rain has left so many giant tree trunks and thousands of cubic yards of detritus in pope's local lineup that a surf report is not expected on these pages for days.
