If you either missed or really like the KQED special "Coastal Clash", you can now order it on DVD:

Coastal Clash takes an in depth look at the struggle between public and private interests on California's shores, a struggle that is occurring on coastlines both in the United States and around the world.

The DVD includes the film, plus bonus material including 25 minutes of additional rare vintage surf footage home movies from both Southern and Northern California; additional songs not used in the film by Chris Shiflett of the Foo Fighters; and four radio reports on coastal issues produced by Cheryl Colopy for the California Report.

After Tax and shipping it's $33.58 and available here.

Wetsand is now selling the RV-Inno Locking Board Carrier for $199. Also available for $189+ adaptors at Rack-It. Wetsand has a nice review on the product but if any readers have their own review on this send it in.

On the back end of that amazing long period westerly swell, pope offers Goleta based reports from Wednesday and Thursday. With overcast conditions, photo opps weren't as good, and so far no pictures have been submitted or found online of these last few days of surf.

Don't forget the Rincon contest this weekend (if it's on), and the surf movie on Saturday night.

Amazingly fun late winter set of swells we've been getting. New surf reports from Saturday and Sunday along the Central Coast and Monday and Tuesday in and near Goleta with more on the way depending on which hype you are reading.

Don submits this link with the comment: lots of folks on one board. Photos here and here.

Don't forget the surf movie Second Thoughts (trailer here) this Saturday March 12th at the Marjorie Luke Theatre which benefits the SBJH Surf Team. Things are ramping up with Tom Curren performing and Timmy Turner, the maker of Second Thoughts on hand to talk about the movie. Loads of swag, and a silent auction that could put on a surf package with Shaun Tomson.

New report from Thursday, although no giant swell could be located.

A slew of surfing links as we head into Friday.

Public Radio International's "To the Best of Our Knowledge" will air a show on surfing which includes the Surfing Rabbi. You can listen online or at KCLU 102.3 Saturday at noon.

Surfline has a pretty good wrapup of the big swell of January 19-20 after the first big storm and includes an aerial slideshow of various delectable rivermouths.

Surfing Magazine has an interview with Ryan Moore about an epic barrel he got at Rincon during that January Swell, and the video to prove it.

Jack Johnson's third album came out on Tuesday, and Outside Magazine has an interview with him.

Fair Bits, a film by Emmit and Brendan Malloy and Taj Burrow will be showing at the Arlington on April 13th.

Ben has some good photos from Rincon on Monday at 2:00, just as things were starting to clean up and get good. The first few images are from a few weeks ago, but the stuff from February 28 starts around image 11 and on. Update: Chris tips us to this photo on Surfline from Monday at Rincon by Dubock.

Also, Image 11 from January 19th is the son of a regular SBS reader. Right on.

Some weak reports from the Central Coast weekend, Saturday and Sunday. Of course the main event for our area was our latest Westerly swell that ramped up after the rain left town on Monday afternoon and began ramping down today. Stars aligned and pope got to sample Big Rincon on Monday afternoon, catching only one wave that was his biggest and longest ever at Rincon. Two sessions are filed for Tuesday, and am shortboarding session around Montecito and a pm longboarding session in Goleta. No photos from this swell have trickled into SBS yet but hopefully someone will get some in.

More waves on the way.... be good to each other out there.

Oh and the Mavericks Big Wave Contest is on for Wednesday.
