The size of the waves on Tuesday, December 26th took many people by surprise as many were expecting Wednesday the 27th to be the monster day. We were Ventura based and observed just a couple souls attempting to surf C-Street (which sadly took the life of one good Venturan) and waves breaking beyond the pier before attempting our own session in the most sheltered spot we could find nearby. On Wednesday, wind created Havoc for surf sessions and utilities alike but created it's own localized windswell that lit up the Harvest Buoy with 26ft wave heights in a matter of hours on Wednesday afternoon. It's rare to see the SoCal Swell Model use the 4 foot increment on it's scale. Not sure what this means to actual surf conditions on Thursday.

UK's Guardian Observer has a lovingly crafted story about a man's autistic son finding happiness from surfing.
I start back to shore, thinking it's over and done with; Luke got his big ride and we can all go home now. This was a lovely idea and we'll definitely return - in August, when it's, you know, summer. But as he and Zuckerman reach the shallows Luke rolls off and stands up. 'More!' he orders, pointing to sea, and to my utter disbelief, out they paddle. For almost an hour they chase waves, catching several good ones all the way in. My heart is in my throat the entire time; this man, a complete stranger, has my child in his arms and has worked some ocean voodoo on his mood. Luke's lips turn blue, then his nose and brow, but damn it all, he's not leaving.

Richard Livsey of the East Coast as an interview with Sean Collins up on his site.
Sean Collins: "Where we draw the line is, we back off a little bit, and say okay this is the swell direction. And these are going to be general high points. At that point, we try to leave enough room for the surfers to make their own choice about where they want to go surf. Because we don’t want to tell people where to surf."
Cayucos Waves wants you to know they've got a new photo gallery with audio up on their site, called Shaka Bro and Obey Your Glasser.
