Snowy Plover Chick Watch

Tuesday, April 03, 2007

Spring is here and the chicks are showing up at Sands. The folks that watch over the Plovers at Sands are having a training class this Saturday for interested would be docents. Don't forget, you get a West Campus parking pass that allows you to surf before and/or after your volunteer shift.

The nesting season is upon us and Snowy Plover chicks will soon be hatching on the sandy beaches at Coal Oil Point. Come help protect this threatened species through the nesting season- their most vulnerable part of year. Become a Snowy Plover Docent!

Those who wish to help protect the nests and chicks of plovers and terns or simply want to learn more about them and their sensitive, coastal habitat, have a chance to get involved this Saturday.
