October 26, 2007: Week In Review

Friday, October 26, 2007

Last weekend we had most excellent waves, with some ridable ones on Saturday (we surfed PCH) and then some real Winter class waves on Sunday. Pope was suiting up in the Rincon lot on Sunday morning, saw all the 4-guys-packed-in-cranking-metallica-cars continuing to pull up, and headed back up North to surf in town. One quarter the size waves, one hundredth the size crowd.

The waves dropped from Sunday to a low on Tuesday afternoon then started to pick back up again Wednesday night. Monday and Tuesday had sessions at Sands with plenty of waves to go around. A great session on the Fish Thursday at Deveraux. Friday the swell dropped but Sands still provided some fun waves, although the Halloween crowds were already filling IV like a hippie festival. This weekend isn't looking promising for waves.

Orange Waves
Mario has some eerie surf photos from San Diego on Monday when the fires were going crazy down there. Regular SBS reader and sometime session sharer JM has been working 18 hour days for SD County providing mapping support during the fires. He's missed a lot of good sessions and California thanks him.
