Bobby Martinez In France

Bobby Martinez did pretty well at Trestles earlier in the month, making it to the Quarterfinals where he was defeated by the contest winning machine Kelly Slater. He moved up to 7th in the standings after that contest. He is now currently surfing in the France contest where he is also doing well, winning his Round 2 and 3 heats to advance to Round 4 against Ben Dunn. That heat will probably take place around 1am Wednesday PDT, which works out well for those working or watching the Vandenberg launch tonight at 11:30pm.

• Tom is at it again on Goleta Surfing with "Little Secrets", chronicling some of the windswell we finally had around these parts.
• NSSA SouthWest Open. Not as many local kids surf the SW Open, but a few did quite well in the 1st event of the season in HB. Conner Coffin won the Open Juniors, Patrick Curren placed 3rd in Open Boys, and Lakey Peterson placed 2nd in Open Women's.
