Sporadic August Update

There hasn't been much to talk about in the way of waves or surf community events lately so not much on the site. Some lucky folks did get some waves this last Saturday, but it was short lived. The site will be quiet until after Labor Day as we take a few weeks surfing in some warmer waters. A few last bits of reading material from local surf sites:

Bobby Martinez Indo Results

Bobby Martinez had a good showing in Indonesia, placing equal 9th at the Rip Curl Search. This added to his 9th place showing at the last event leaves him in 9th overall on the tour just past halfway through the season. It seems Bobby should re-qualify for next years tour as he competes at Trestles, France, and Mundaka over the next few months.

Our latest Edhat.com column is up, this one on the midweek summer scene at Campus Point. We were trying to capture the 30+ surfer lineup on a flat day but our timing was off.

Fiesta Friday

August is here as well as Fiesta and as penance for our lack of fog in June we've got it now. Supposedly there is NW groundswell, NW windswell, SW groundswell, and S groundswell all in the water. If any is actually bringing surfable conditions into town is up the reader to discover. Here is a lovely photo of Campus Point on a recent weekday with the UCSB summer camps and JGs going on.

Bustin Down the Door opens today at Fiesta Five Theatre. According to Scott Bull at Surfrider if it shows well it will run nationally.
