Hurricane Guillermo was one of the largest of several large hurricanes that moved across the Northeast Pacific in the summer of 1997. Boasting a slow movement rate, sustained winds gusting over 140 knots, and a very large fetch, it pumped good swell from Cabo San Lucas through all of the west coast and then Hawaii. We caught some excellent, uncrowded surf from Guillermo when the swell first landed at a little-known mystospot. The swell held on through to the weekend, and I got some shots of it during the peak of the swell on Thursday. Take a look!
