Panelists will include Steve Pezman, former editor of Surfer Magazine; Craig Stecyk, surf and skate culture historian; and Anthony Friedkin, a contributing photographer featured in the exhibition.  Admission is free for members, $5 for nonmembers.  2:00 p.m., Wells Fargo Theatre.

SPECIAL APPEARANCE & FILM: Meet the Real Gidget!

Kathy Kohner Zuckerman, the real “Gidget” of book, film, and television fame, will talk about her life on the beach, which led to the book written by her father. The 1959 film Gidget will follow the talk.  Admission is free for museum members, $5 for nonmembers. 2:00 p.m.

PANEL DISCUSSION: Meet the Women of Surfing

Joyce Hoffman was honored as one of the original eight inductees into the International Surfing Hall of Fame.  Kim Hamrock is a four-time U.S. Women’s Surfing Champion.  Julia Christian is a veteran of the Carlsbad High School surf team and is ranked 14th on the World Qualifying Series Tour. The panelists will share their thoughts about surfing.  Admission is free for museum members, $5 for nonmembers.  2:00 p.m., Wells Fargo Theatre.
