As with November, this month began with a layoff, first due to flatness and then due to the flu. The first swell of the month lasted five days, and at its peak was the best to hit Santa Barbara since 1969.The holiday season was a zoo, with lots of tourists and a good swell coming in between Christmas and New Years. I surfed the cove at Rincon for the first time on the 30th, and got by far the most perfectly lined-up wave of my life. Of course, this month wasn't without a ding here and there.
Out of 13 reports, got good surf 12 times. The average wave height was in the head high plus range.
