Santa Barbara Area Surf Report

December Overview | 1995 Overview

Date/Time:
Tuesday, Dec. 12th, 7:30 am - 9:00 am
Location:
Rincon, CA
Weather:
Cloudy with strong S winds to 15 kt.
Conditions:
Heavy south bump and chop, worsening continually.
Swell:
W groundswell. 11 ft. 13 sec. on the west channel buoy. Head high waves with consistent sets as high as double overhead.
Comments:
Broke out the 7'6" pintail, helpful both on the drops and with negotiating the chop. Lots of adrenaline and point-and-run tactics, little hotdogging and difficulty cranking a good cutback with the big board. Bottom turns were a dream even with the sore legs from yesterday's session. Went in early due to the worsening conditions.

Conditions have declined to victory at sea as I write this at 1:30 pm everywhere from the Sand Spit (not breaking) to Campus Point. Rain should begin arriving tonight or tomorrow.
