Comments:
I was reminded today both of why I love surfing Rincon and why sometimes the spot can be trying. The most lined-up swell so far this month and possibly better than the ones we had in October.

The buoys didn't sound promising so I waited for the morning phone-in report and hung up after just a few words, already out the door. Paddled out into a 10-15 minute lull, having second thoughts about how the session would go, and then the waves started coming in. Fun-sized sets, lined-up and perfect for coming square off the bottom and throwing spray over the shoulder. It peaked around 8:30 as I saw a set bomb easily overhead and a quarter. Lines from the indicator into the rivermouth, not much going all the way in.

So much for the luvey-duvey stuff. Crowd control ensued after a little while. My first run-in was with a fellow who jumped on my wave just as it was about to portico, and he kept tramping his muddy feet all over my front porch. It was partially exciting to watch him rip, but a little bothersome at the same time since he was right on top of me. Second was someone who was determined to share my wave, first sneaking into my front lawn from the sidewalk. I ran down the front porch and onto the steps, he grumbled something and started to do the go-behind, only right at me. The natural response which I picked up at Sequit was to pick up the nose of the trespasser's board, whereupon he fell, not before giving me a push which actually helped me beat a section.

No matter, the wave still rocked all the way into the rivermouth. Last wave of the day had plenty of room for two and I tried to tell my shadow that, "go, go", i.e. either pull out or get out there on the shoulder and out of my way, but he heard me and stayed close, we clacked rails once and he pulled out... chicken.
