Santa Barbara Surf Report Archive
September 1995 Overview

The first groundswells of the winter season began to arrive this month, getting waves all the way up to overhead. Mostly peaks rather than a good wrapping wave. South swells also came on after a summer-long flat spell.

The new board came out of the shop, a fun 6'6" Channel Islands thruster with hard turned-down rails, excellent drive, carve, and fabulous recovery from any situation. The only downside from the old 6'5" Watermans Guild board is a slight decrease in paddling speed -- no problem once I get in shape.

Out of 9 reports, got good surf 6 times. Average wave height was in the chest high range.
