Santa Barbara Area Surf Report

April Overview | 1996 Overview

Date/Time:
Thursday, April 4th, 8:00 am - 9:30 am
Location:
Rincon Point
Weather:
Warm sun overhead, blue skies and no wind locally. Strong NW winds in the channel and 'round Pt. Conception.
Conditions:
Clean and glassy, fair to poor shape.
Swell:
Faded W groundswell, mostly NW windswell. Knee to waist high, maybe chest high on a couple.
Comments:
Again, poor shape like yesterday, but cleaner and smaller. Debated whether or not to go out for about a half hour before finally just deciding to get wet and see if there were any spotty fun sets out there. There weren't, but still got a couple good turns in before drifting down to the cove.

Shape in the cove was much better, with the usual peel down the line being substituted for small dumpy sections that were still beatable. Actually kinda fun, what with the light crowd and all.

There's a new WNW coming in from a storm system that shows some promise, arriving possibly as early as late this afternoon. Check da buoys.
