Santa Barbara Area Surf Report

August Overview | 1996 Overview

Date/Time:
Sunday, August 4th, 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
Location:
Sequit / Secos / Leo Carrillo
Weather:
Mild and sunny with light side-onshore breezes.
Conditions:
Glassy and clean.
Swell:
Inconsistent out of the south, waist to chest high.
Comments:
It looked to be very small from the road, but got dunked under an overhead set after paddling over from the cliffs. This lent a sense of optimism for the late morning which was quelled by the onset of a huge, hassle-happy crowd.

Picked off a few waves here and there, but mostly got exercise with a lot of fruitless paddling. The crowd was thick, elbows and shoulders bumping and people being snaked 5 deep and stuffed.

No place for a civilized human being like me. Got a couple of off the lips though.
