Santa Barbara Area Surf Report

December Overview | 1996 Overview

Date/Time:
Monday, December 2nd, 9:00 am - 12:30 pm
Location:
Rincon Point
Weather:
Sunny and warm, no wind.
Conditions:
Good, clean, glassy, sunny, warm, if only there were waves...
Swell:
Small, new swell more out of the NW than WNW, waist high.
Comments:
Too much north in this swell to make it into the channel; check out the latest model from the CDIP for a good look at diffractive energy losses as waves pass around Point Conception.

Pretty crowded, everyone hoping for a little more west in the swell than we got. Lots of longboarders out, hard to compete since my 9'2" is in the shop getting un-dinged. Occasionally a good chest high wave came through and lined up deep into the rivermouth. Mostly gutless surf good for maintaining shape.

Two weeks and I'm in Hawaii!
