Santa Barbara Area Surf Report

February Overview | 1996 Overview

Date/Time:
Tuesday, Feb. 6th, 8:00 am - 11:00 am
Location:
Rincon, CA
Weather:
Thick blobs of fog getting pushed offshore fast, then building light onshore breezes.
Conditions:
Clean.
Swell:
Consistent winter swell out of the west. Head high to overhead and a half.
Comments:
The strong current pulling south kept the lineup pretty active, so it wasn't too hard to find an open place to pick up some waves, as long as I kept alert. Got cleaned up a lot, needless to say.

The sets had open, fast walls, fully trimmed out and fins hooting. Got several waves into the cove, but I still have yet to get one all the way through the point, from the indicator to the call box.

Wave shape got a little warbly with the high tide coming in; however, it started to line up better. Stayed out way too long for the shape I was in, and eventually caught a small one into the rivermouth.

Greg Edison and co. from the "Waveline Surf Network" on local public access T.V. are supposed to be out and about, filming local breaks. The show airs Wednesday nights at 9:30 pm (I'm not very certain of the time), on Cox Cable channel 17.
