Santa Barbara Area Surf Report

February Overview | 1996 Overview

Date/Time:
Wednesday, Feb. 7th, 7:30 am - 10:30 am
Location:
Rincon, CA
Weather:
Warm and sunny, with wispy clouds and haze from the sets.
Conditions:
Clean.
Swell:
Setty west swell, again head high to overhead and a half.
Comments:
Crowd thicker than yesterday, the difference early likely due to the lack of fog and subsequent warm temps. Still, a lot of people looking and moving on.

Went out a little earlier than usual and noticed that I'm unaccustomed to being blinded by the morning sun; had to use the Force on my first few waves, with some success.

Rides to the cove are almost becoming a regular thing; just a year ago any one of them would have been one of the best waves of my life. The slowdown past the rivermouth made for some fun cutback and foam rebound practice.

The forecast is for decreasing swell tomorrow; there's lots of storm activity that could potentially bring some more waves, albeit from a more northerly direction, within a few days.
