January as a whole turned out to produce very little in terms of swell, and was overall the weakest month since October of 1995. No big surf, just occasional days with sets almost to head high.On the plus side, this was also the first ding-free month of the winter. Good rides were also found on occasion, and conditions were generally pristine, with a good Santa Ana wind blowing through (naturally, it did not coincide with a swell).
Out of 11 reports, got good surf 6 times. The average wave height was in the chest high range.
