July was one of the scarcest months in recent memory, both for good swells and for getting out to surf the ones that came. The southern hemisphere came alive a few times, the best of which was missed by me on a trip to Minnesota. The highlight of the month for me was the very beginning, with a maiden surf of Malibu on a good and consistent southern hemi. Also picked up a longboard from Jock and rode it for the first time at C Street with good results. First time ever on a board over 7'6" in length after four years of surfing.
The lowlight was definitely the trip to Minnesota during a week-long epic swell that even had Santa Barbara in shoulder high surf, unheard of for a swell out of the south.
Out of only seven sessions, got good surf six times. Average wave height surfed was in the waist high range, but the month- long average was probably smaller.
