Santa Barbara Area Surf Report

July Overview | 1996 Overview

Date/Time:
Wednesday, July 17th, 9:00 am - 12:30 pm
Location:
Sequit / Secos / Leo Carrillo
Weather:
Morning gloom with sun slowly burning through. Developing onshore breezes by noon.
Conditions:
Good, a little backed off with high tide.
Swell:
3 ft. 17 s. S hemi groundswell, inconsistent, up to head high.
Comments:
Got a new 9'2" longboard yesterday from Jeff "Jock" Jasiorkowski, had it all waxed up last night but left it home after hearing the bump-up in interval on the weather radio.

Wound up wishing that I'd had it, with a thick post-flat-spell crowd hassling hard for every morsel of the inconsistent new swell. Still got some great all-down-the-line fully trimmed out speed waves and a few fun roundhouses or snapbacks, depending on how balanced I was.

Swell is expected to improve by a couple of feet for tomorrow.
