Santa Barbara Area Surf Report

March Overview | 1996 Overview

Date/Time:
Friday, March 22nd, 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Location:
Sequit / Secos / Leo Carrillo
Weather:
Overcast with clearing breezes to sunny skies.
Conditions:
Fairly clean, worsening with tide and time.
Swell:
Again small and inconsistent, waist high with chest high sets.
Comments:
Went even further south than yesterday, and again the best I saw was at C Street, but too mushy and sectiony for my shortboard. The longboarders were loving it.

Good to see some familiar faces from this past summer, when I first began surfing Sequit in earnest. The waves were decent and the crowd light to start. Good shape and easy paddles in, with a sharp cutback and slow section before the racetrack. Naturally, the local longboarder crew got all the sets.

Eventually the wind came up and brought in some weird bump and the high tide killed what little swell there was.

Things don't look too good for the Rincon Classic this weekend. A good bet is that it's off again for another week.
