Santa Barbara Area Surf Report

March Overview | 1996 Overview

Date/Time:
Tuesday, March 26th, 10:00 am - 12:00 noon
Location:
Sequit / Secos / Leo Carrillo
Weather:
Shifting winds from light offshore to howling side/onshore.
Conditions:
Clean fading to light bump. Kelp preventing serious chop.
Swell:
Fun south swell, sets from waist to head high.
Comments:
Breaking strangely on the low tide and south direction of the swell, with outside sets closing out over to the far rock. Nobody was surfing the usual lineup when I paddled out, so that's where I went.

Got some fun drops, a few floaters off the sections, and a couple of the outer set waves while paddling around from section to section. Many more rocks and boils than usual, and the kelp was particularly thick as well.

Eventually the wind came screaming onshore and it was time to leave.

No sign of any hoped-for new west swell yet.
