Santa Barbara Area Surf Report

March Overview | 1996 Overview

Date/Time:
Wednesday, March 27th, 9:00 am - 12:00 noon
Location:
Rincon Point
Weather:
Sunny, warm, with no wind (still none now at 3pm).
Conditions:
Good, with a little windswell and ghosting south swell mixup.
Swell:
Fun west swell, sets from waist to shoulder high, some larger peaks.
Comments:
Better than it looked on the paddle out. Buoys were registering fairly small (7 ft. 14 s.) and the crowd was light. The indicator wasn't working, but the rivermouth had some fun fast dumping peaks on the low tide that ended in either a mushed out shoulder or a sandy closed out barrel.

Had fun dodging the sections and stuffing sand in my suit for a while, then headed to the cove. More crowded and inconsistent, but good shape and a little better lined up. Didn't pick off any of the best waves today, but still had fun slapping the lip.
