Santa Barbara Area Surf Report

May Overview | 1996 Overview

Date/Time:
Friday, May 31st, 8:00 am - 11:00 am
Location:
Sequit / Secos / Leo Carrillo
Weather:
Blue skies, no wind, hot sun, unseasonably cold water.
Conditions:
Clean, glassy, perfection.
Swell:
New SSW groundswell, 3-4 ft. at 17 s. Waves from knee high on the extreme inside (behind the rock) with head high+ sets.
Comments:
A fun, long session. Minor crowd problems as the late morning crew and the aggro dawn patrol crew overlapped strongly around 9:00 or so. Hung around the inside and picked off the well-shaped reforms.

The more southerly angle put extra sections on the waves, especially inside of the second rock, where there was a decent- sized crowd. Got one or two to connect all the way through, and got pitched once or twice trying to pick up an outside set wave. Went in after the second time, late for a meeting, again.
