Santa Barbara Area Surf Report

November Overview | 1996 Overview

Date/Time:
Friday, November 29th, 7:30 am - 9:30 am
Location:
Rincon Point
Weather:
Crispy-cool morning, strong side-onshores at dawn.
Conditions:
Oppressive bump and chop, very poor.
Swell:
Pulsing long-fetch windswell from post-frontal winds that began blowing through late yesterday afternoon. Waist to shoulder high on the sets.
Comments:
Met up with Surfrat Diaries author Leo Dagum for a surf. Took a quick look at blown-out Sands around 6:45 am and blown-out indicator around 7:10 am before settling on the cove.

Really small and weak in the cove, eventually got lured into the rivermouth for some larger albeit windier sets. Fast building peaks, got a few axings on abortive late drops, my nose really drained water when I got home. Leo was generally positive about the point's potential, I told him he should have been here last week. Got one last fun wave in the cove that actually lined up well.

2:00 pm update, wind looks to have calmed down locally.
