Santa Barbara Area Surf Report

September Overview | 1996 Overview

Date/Time:
Thursday, September 5th, 7:00 am - 10:30 am
Location:
Sequit / Secos / Leo Carrillo State Beach
Weather:
Warm and sunny. Faint offshore breezes as the sun was coming up.
Conditions:
Clean and glassy with unusually clear water. Scary rock bottom!
Swell:
Inconsistent out of the south, chest to shoulder high.
Comments:
About as consistent as yesterday but with a bit less size and a smaller and friendlier crowd. Lined up a little better, sometimes weak and mushy, sometimes fast and fun, sometimes closing out. Got all the waves I wanted.

Surfed until the crowd pulsed on again along with a little absurd attitude. Last wave was a short one on the inside, pulled and landed my cleanest most upright floater to date.

Good news for Santa Barbara County as administrators recently announced regular water quality testing at 15 beaches in the county. Now it's time for Ventura to pick up the slack...
