Santa Barbara Area Surf Report

September Overview | 1996 Overview

Date/Time:
Tuesday, September 17th, 8:00 am - 11:00 am
Location:
Rincon Point
Weather:
Warm and sunny, no wind, a perfect "beach day".
Conditions:
Clean and glassy. A little mushy (windswell). A little backed-off (building tide).
Swell:
Long-fetch windswell, waist to chest high with occasional larger sets.
Comments:
The hand I injured on my bike a week ago in a wipeout after avoiding a 5-year-old kid who jumped in front of me on the bikepath seemd to be healing well enough to merit a go-out.

No cars in the south lot when I drove past it on the way in; the lot was full on the way out. Guess the dawn patrol crew isn't geared up for it yet.

Fun carvable little waves, not wrapping as well as they could, but the water was warm and pristine. The buildup of superfine summer sand is already getting sucked away, big plumes of it shooting up from between the cobbles and sparkling at the surface.
