Santa Barbara Area Surf Report

April Overview | 1997 Overview

Date/Time:
Tuesday, April 1st, 3:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Location:
Rincon Point
Weather:
Cool with howling variable winds from the SW to NW.
Conditions:
Fair, side-offshore conditions mainly on the beachbreak. Mixed-up, windswelly, and weak on the point.
Swell:
Strong long-fetch windswell from gales up the coast. Waist high to head high beachbreak closeouts.
Comments:
Unmakeable closeout sections with backed-off shoulders on the beach... not enough sandbar out there to give it any rideable shape. The point looked to be even more of a struggle, and with the cool breezes I was content just to watch the wind shift around, alternating between blowing the surf out and fanning the peaks back.

Did you surf this weekend? If so, then file a report for World Surf Day '97! I'm still collecting reports from around the world, a total of about 50 so far.
