Santa Barbara Area Surf Report

April Overview | 1997 Overview

Date/Time:
Friday, April 11th, 12:00 noon
Location:
Goleta
Weather:
Sunny and warm with typical spring clearing winds.
Conditions:
Poor to victory-at-sea.
Swell:
Windswell, weak, 1'-2' breakers.
Comments:
After class yesterday took a walk out along Campus Point to the cliffs and looked at Depressions. The winds there howl side-offshore across the lagoon and out to sea, and some longboarders and spongers were out enjoying the little knee high waves. Depressions was a soupy mess, and whitecaps were raging in the channel and down by the pier.

Today doesn't look to be much better... there is a small 2 ft. 17 s. southern hemisphere swell in the water, just not enough energy in it and too much wind. April is a good month to schedule trips out of town and catch up on all the work missed during the winter season.
