- Date/Time:
- Friday, February 7th, 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm
- Location:
- Rincon Point
- Weather:
- Early morning overcast leading to afternoon hazy sunshine and light onshore breezes.
- Conditions:
- Good to fair, a bit of wind wrinkle and bump on the indicator. Mostly just a hassle paddling up the point, clean paddling into and surfing waves.
- Swell:
- Fading groundswell shifted to out of the west. Waist to chest high with sets shoulder to head high.
- Comments:
- A lot like yesterday: same crowd, same inconsistent swell, same slightly bumpy conditions, same fun waves when they came, only a little better since the channel winds died down, removing the windswell's cross-face influence.
Like yesterday, worked through the morning. Rather than sit through yet another boring seminar for the afternoon, headed out in Surfer Bob's hippie surf-van after lunch.
Stayed at the indicator and hassled the longshore current on the low tide. Got plenty of fun waves into the rivermouth, with all kinds of different sections and shoulders to play with. Just a really fun time, not very adrenal at all, except for one solid overhead rivermouth bomb that just came to me as I was paddling back up the point. Got stuffed in behind a 20-yard section after stoking the drop and coming back off the top once or twice.
I saw Surfer Bob get a few waves, but mostly we traded off and surfed past each other as one paddled out and one surfed in. Stayed out until it started getting cool as the sun turned bright red on the horizon.
