Comments:
The National Weather Service began pumping up the hype for a new swell last night, as for some reason they have done with every other ordinary winter swell this season. I need to learn to start tuning them out.

The lot was nearly empty as I drove in, with fewer than eight surfers out in the water at the indicator. I passed three of them as I went down the stairs and down the beach to the point. Figured I could wait it out and hope for some real groundswell lines to come in, getting them all to myself.

Those of us that did come out got part of that wish, as a few head high sets rolled through every once in a while. Only one or two or three sets made it in before the wind came up and ruined it all, just like yesterday. Those that did come in before the wind were a lot of fun.

On the walk back, discovered that a hole had worn totally through the bottom of my 5-year-old booties, which were filling up with sand as I scuffed my feet across the beach. Swung into my local surfshop and picked up some new ones, even got a 10% discount on them. Stoked!
