Comments:
I need to get wet more often! This month has been pretty lackluster so far.

After listening to the buoys and debating a lot, headed south rather than north. Locally it was pretty small. Drove past Rincon on the way down to see waist-high and lumpy-looking surf, gave it a miss.

Checked a beachbreak to the south; it had consistent overhead sets that were breaking top-to-bottom and closing out for a hundred yards. There was one good left out there that some good surfers were challenging. I wimped out and went looking for some rights.

The crowd was pretty light at Stables, and the sets were inconsistent but fun when they came. The water has begun to get a spring-time chill to it, in the low 50's.

Got a few mushburgers and a few pure fun lined-up walls, floated some mushy sections and got more than my share of waves from the stables lineup to the edge of the fairgrounds parking lot, a good piece. Last wave was all the way in, picked up a piece of rebound off the rocks and jumped off to catch my board and plant my feet on dry sand.

Forecast is for decreasing swell tomorrow and then improvement from Thursday into Friday.

The Isla Vista and Ventura Chapters of the Surfrider Foundation have organized a benefit and competition at Rincon. The Rincon Clean Water Classic is this weekend, March 1st and 2nd. Funds donated will benefit a study of the creek and watershed at Rincon to determine pollution sources and possible avenues of dealing with them.
