Santa Barbara Area Surf Report

January Overview | 1997 Overview

Date/Time:
Sunday, January 26th, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Location:
Poles, Campus Point
Weather:
Clearing conditions, some sun poking through high clouds.
Conditions:
Improving further into Poles, lots of chop on the point. Prevailing southwesterlies running side-offshore here.
Swell:
Fun, waist high to chest high with shoulder to head high sets.
Comments:
Lining up well from atop poles well past the biology building on the set waves. Lots of surfers coming out after the kickoff, everyone had the same idea as me.

Managed to get a few outside set waves all the way past the biology building and nearly to Engineering I. Fairly weak shoulders, ideally suited for my 9'2" longboard. Difficult to noseride with the weakness of it but great for pinwheeling bottom and top turns and cutbacks. Fun!
