Santa Barbara Area Surf Report

March Overview | 1997 Overview

Date/Time:
Monday, March 10th, 10:00 am - 12:00 noon
Location:
Rincon Point
Weather:
Warm, in fact hot for this time of year, sunny and no wind.
Conditions:
Perfect sheet glass surface on a blue-green sea.
Swell:
Weak, waist to chest high waves out of the west and south, buried under the high tide.
Comments:
Maintenance surf. Lots of longboarders atop the point; they had the right equipment but I try not to surf my longboard too many times in a row (see my report from the fun session yesterday).

Got one or two waves in just to the rivermouth where the inside was fast and very floater-able.

But still, what a glorious beach day! Warm sun and cool clean water, only a few people out and plenty of waves to go around even if they were small.
