A good solid fall month. Some fairly solid swells, including one on Thanksgiving that I didn't surf as I didn't have the semi-gun handy. Better than last year but probably not quite as good as 1995. No west swells, either, which was a bit of a let-down.We had some pros rolling through this month; Kelly Slater and the Malloys on the second followed shortly thereafter by a crew from Santa Cruz doing the air show thing in the rivermouth. The movie "Siestas Y Olas" rounded out the media frenzy for this month by arriving in town with a good soulful Mexican surfari feel.
Highlights of the month were some really good Rincon days sprinkled throughout the month, and a night surf at Campus Point. No waves the length of the point this month, but lots of solid surf pushing to just overhead. Notably, the Santa Monica Basin buoy came back online, returning us to good inner water buoy readings for the rest of the winter.
Out of twelve reports, got good surf around half the time. Only surfed once on the longboard, but didn't use the semi-gun at all. Average wave height was in the head high range.
