Santa Barbara Area Surf Report

November Overview 1997 Overview

Date/Time: Tuesday, November 25th, 9:30 am - 12:30 pm
Location: Rincon Point
Weather: Sunny early, overcast and cool by noon. No wind.
Conditions: Pristine glassy perfection. Again some peaks from the SW swell.
Swell: Picked up a bit, 9 ft at 11 s on the outer buoys, 4 ft at 14 s on the Santa Monica Basin buoy. Mix of north and south Pacific energy.
Surf: Fun-sized with peaks and bowls, shoulder to head high sets.
Comments: Another great session. Heavier crowd than yesterday but I had the second peak at the indicator all to myself. The dropping tide and the SW pulse were combining to consistently close out the outside indicator crew on the set waves, leaving me in perfect position every time. Inconsistent enough so that the occasional crowding on my peak dispersed due to everyone else's impatience.

Waves from the indicator to a few houses past the rivermouth, perfectly shaped and in that no-adrenaline fun size. Had a blast, so much so that after three hours I still felt like I was getting out early.
