Santa Barbara Area Surf Report

October Overview 1997 Overview

Date/Time: Thursday, October 23rd, 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Location: Rincon Point
Weather: Socked in, mid-level clouds, eventual clearing.
Conditions: Poor. Lots of lump and bump.
Swell: Small WNW groundswell, 5.9 ft at 14 s. with background southern hemi and windswell atop it. Dropping.
Surf: Waist high sets.
Comments: Surfed the cove, waves coming down the line fast and barely makeable. Quick hollowing walls on the low tide, drive for speed and try to link floaters to the next section. Would have been unsurfable but the sand is filling in the gaps nicely and on the low tide making for excellent shape.

First time in the water in 16 days, definitely felt good to just get wet. Get this lil' swell while you can and then amp for next week when things could get fun.
