| October Overview | 1997 Overview |
| Date/Time: | Friday, October 31st, 12:00 noon - 3:00 pm |
| Location: | Stables / C Street |
| Weather: | Clear skies, hot, strong side-onshores. |
| Conditions: | Not so bad, call it poor, chop mostly annoying during the paddle. The wind shifted a lot and the sets on the outside by the rivermouth kept much chop from building up. Ever notice that big set waves clean up the water surface? Well the rivermouth was grinding away all the chop from the channel, leaving only a few yards for waves to build before reaching us. |
| Swell: | Dropping out of the WNW, 9 ft at 17 s this morning. This particular swell peaked overnight and has shifted to a more northerly track, from 290 to 300. |
| Surf: | Holding, shoulder to head high with 1-2' overhead sets. |

The search went just like yesterday,
checked the 'con, Tropics, Signals, and the Overhead before
coming here. The waves were about the same as well, fast
and hollow and a lot of fun.
This time just stuck to the main peak instead of hassling with the closeout insiders along the pay parking lot. Many excellent waves were had by everyone, and a lot of guys were surfing it hard. I was going pretty slow, nursing a stiff neck that cropped up this morning. Towards the end, my neck loosened up and I got a wave that took me from way outside the Stables lineup, practically from the rivermouth, to outside of the bathrooms. Follow that up by a thicker, mushier right clear across the C-Street lineup to the top of the bay, and then one more all the way in to the sand. Three waves across the entire length of the point... not bad! |
