Santa Barbara Area Surf Report

June Overview 1998 Overview

Date/Time: Tuesday, June 23rd, 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
Location: Secos / Arroyo Sequit / Leo Carrillo
Weather: Manic-depressive June weather... I'm sunny! I'm cloudy! I'm sunny!
Conditions: A little morning sick early, glassing off to good conditions by noon.
Swell: Small, 2.5 ft at 17 s from 190 degrees.
Surf: Knee to waist high with chest to head high sets.
Comments: Less consistent yet a bit better lined up than yesterday; probably because of the tide. Never really got in synch and didn't get any good ones until the very end of the session; spent a lot of time paddling in to the inside lineup only to get caught inside and then moving back out only to sit for a half hour straight.

Weak high-tide shoulders on the ones I did get, had some fun throwing cutbacks and watching other guys get barrelled over the body rock. Last wave was the best, the only outside set wave I got, all the way in to the stairs, fun-sized, slow and easy.
