Ran out into the water ahead of SurferBob who was puttering
over his board's wax job; didn't see him for nearly a half
hour after that. Got the best wave of my session right off
the bat, very fast and sizeable, finishing off with a big
closeout barrel at the end section by the stairs.
Robert mostly hung out down inside of the windsurf rock and caught the reforms from there to past the stairs, while I stuck to the outside reefs on the regular lineup. The tide created quite a lull for everyone, but aside from that the apparent due south angle kept the peaks shifting and closing out enough to spread the crowd around, at least for a while. Eventually the weekend crew proved to be too much for a civilized session, and rampant overcrowding ensued. So, my session went like it often does, with a bunch of great waves to bookend a long stretch of missed waves or ones behind two or three people. Things finally turned on again towards the end, got a couple of fast little ones and a big one that covered me up a few times in the pocket just past the body rock. I ordinarily tend to hang out more on the open face instead of right in the curl; the different perspective was a kick. |
