Poor surf during April has become something of a tradition, with only April 1996 holding out as a stellar exception. Two sessions this month, making it second in days actually surfed only to April 1997 in days surfed (which had one) and the fewest surf reports ever filed for a month.

However, this month's highlight was a truly good day, an epiphany at Malibu. Would that every month could have such a session. Lowlight? All the spring winds, and allergies. Time spent away from the coast was well-spent given how flat it was.

Out of two reports (a new record low, beating the previous holder, September 1997 by two), got good surf once. Didn't ride the longboard or semi-gun. Average wave height was around head high.
