Santa Barbara Area Surf Report

  June Overview 1999 Overview

Date/Time: Saturday, June 5th, 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Location: Secos / Arroyo Sequit / Leo Carrillo
Weather: Beautiful beach day with sunny skies and not a trace of wind.
Conditions: Glassy and perfect.
Swell: Fading southern hemi. 3 ft at 14 s from 180.
Surf: Waist to shoulder high with some head high sets.
Comments: A pleasant but too-short session. Surfing on a schedule bracketed by the low tide in the morning and a late afternoon dinner reservation w/ my wife's best friend.

Rode the reefs and got a mix of smaller shoulder high waves that rolled pretty fast down past the lifeguard tower and outside bombers that closed out halfway down the line after a big drop. Gave away a lot of waves and had plenty given to me in return, including my last one as I got out early.

Was the food worth it? You be the judge: dinner was breaded and flash-fried soft-shelled crabs, crawfish popcorn and a Blackened Voodoo, with a bread pudding souflee for dessert.
