Santa Barbara Area Surf Report

  June Overview 1999 Overview

Date/Time: Sunday, June 13th, 2:00 pm
Location: Miramar and Hammond's Reef
Weather: Sunny and warm with light westerly air.
Conditions: Fair. Windswelly and warbly but not choppy.
Swell: Windswell from strong NWerlies to 35kt on the channel. 6 ft at 10 s waves on the inner buoy.
Surf: Waist to chest high with a few sets pushing to head high at Hammonds. Half that at Miramar.
Comments: A brief stop with Bettye on the way back from a run to Summerland Market (hand-made no-nitrate andouille for tomorrow's jambalaya plus some of that sweet pork apple).

Walked with her and my sister out to the meadow and while I was expecting to see some people out in the windswell I was surprised to see the number of decent looking sets pushing to head high. Three or four waves in each set and saw a few sets while we were there.

Had more stops to make before getting home and the Sunday southbound traffic would make it impossible to get back down before dark, may try a go-out along the Gaviota Coast.
