Santa Barbara Area Surf Report

  June Overview 1999 Overview

Date/Time: Wednesday, June 23rd, 6:30 am - 8:00 am
Location: Secos / Arroyo Sequit / Leo Carrillo
Weather: Overcast, burning off quickly. No wind.
Conditions: Dead calm, glassy and perfect.
Swell: Small to moderate SSW swell, 2.6-3 ft at 17 s from 190.
Surf: Chest high with head high sets.
Comments: I wish that I had paddled out earlier, that I had turned my car's headlights off, and that I had pulled back from that late drop better so that my board would not have been drawn onto the rock and smashed. But more than anything I wish I hadn't seen that couple unclothed over by the showers as I got out.

But I did, so I got into the water a little late, got a few bombs off the reefs to myself and just missed one enough that my board was given a nice nose ding, just after which I was asked how good my car battery was. And then there was that horrifying shower experience.

A quick, satisfying session, but I wish...
