Santa Barbara Surf Report Archive
April 2000

The Overview

Not surfing was the story for this month, which almost went by without a single session logged. A fast-weakening winter swell season, typical spring northwesterlies setting in strong, and not much southern hemi activity all conspired with my own personal dissatisfaction to set up a month-long hiatus from any water time whatsoever. An abomination! The early morning buoy check habit was lost and the expansion rate of my waistline escalated.

With all that, it goes without saying that the highlight of the month was the one time I actually surfed. A weak southern hemisphere swell but my first time back in the water at Leo Carrillo (my preferred summer spot at the north/westernmost edge of Malibu) in months. Lowlight? It goes without saying that it was all that lack of surf!

Out of 1 reports, didn't get good surf at all (I can't let a 100% rating sneak in for this month). Only rode my shortboard. Waves were waist to chest high on that day.
