The plan was to make another run down to San Clemente to pick
up a fullsuit repair job from the Rip Curl store. Maybe even
get some surfing done with a medium sized southern hemi running.
With the bright moon and it being a weekend, I figured I'd have
no shot at beating the crowd at Trestles, so I slept in and headed
out around midmorning.
Of course, I forgot to consider the rest of the (non-surfing) world, and traffic was horrendous. After slogging my way over the Sepulveda Pass I hung a sharp right and hit PCH. New mission: get out of this damn car and just find some surf. Malibu and Topanga looked pretty crowded and small, and there was just nowhere to park at Zuma, plus the breeze was up. So I moved on to Sequit and was pretty stoked at what I got. In short it was surprisingly mellow and uncrowded for a midday weekend summer swell. Good shape and long rides when the waves decided to come in. Lots of people on the inside but fewer than ten out on the reefs. One of the best days all summer at Leo for long rides. Glad I happened to be out here! |
